Tasting Notes:

This 100% Chenin Blanc expertly shows off the beauty and elegance of South African Chenin Blanc. You will find an alluring array of tropical fruit, peach and pear aromas on the nose. These follow through to the palate and is beautifully balanced by a fresh, green apple like, acidity. While this wine is made in a lighter, fresher style and thus perfect for enjoyment on its own, it has enough texture and density to pair well with an array of seafood, pasta and salad dishes.

Between two mighty oceans, on the southern tip of Africa, lies the historic Saxenburg Wine Farm. Here, memory and the seasons conspire with the cellarmaster’s craft to produce unique wines of consistent and exceptional quality. For centuries wayfarers bound for the East Indies found hospitality and relief at the Fairest Cape. At Saxenburg we extend this tradition and invite you to visit our world.

Deep gravel with some clay but well drained. Trellised, partly irrigated.

Grapes were harvested on cool, early mornings. After destemming, skin contact was allowed for a few hours before a gentle pressing. The juice was settled for one day, and the clear juice was fermented at low temperatures, with 2 selected yeast strains, to promote flavor development. After fermentation, the wine was left on its lees to develop greater mouthfeel and complexity.

Food pairing

A well balanced wine that will complement spicy seafood, sushi, fish dishes and most pasta dishes or to enjoy on its own.
